Coby Electronics Recalls Portable DVD/CD/MP3 Players Due to Fire Hazard

Coby Electronics Corp. has issued a voluntary recall of around 12,000 of its portable DVD/CD/MP3 players because the devices can overheat, posing a fire hazard. The company has received one report of property damage as a result of the portable player overheating.Â
The portable players being recalled are the 5” and 5.6” TFT Portable DVD/CD/MP3 Player with TV Tuner and Digital AM/FM Tuner. The recalled models are TF-DVD170 and TF-DVD176. The model numbers can be found on bottom of the units. The players were sold nationwide at electronic stores, discount stores and office supply stores from May 2006 through October 2007 for between $140 and $170.
